Parker's Pinewood Derby

I haven't been very good at blogging and so I'm playing catch up here a little bit (been a little busy planning a wedding - which is only 16 days away - not that I'm counting or anything :), as well as now packing up and moving next weekend. My brother will be renting my house for the time being. So busy times for now and such exciting times ahead - I can't wait!) But I wanted to take a minute to post something about Parker's pinewood derby last month. He really enjoys scouts but especially gets excited when the Pinewood derby comes around.

This was his 3rd year participating. The first year he took 2nd place, last year he didn't place at all but this year he took 1st place!!! There wasn't a race he didn't win. (Some of this may be due to the fact that the Thompson's moved away and gave us their pinewood derby tricks & tips to having a winning car! Thank you Gregg & Lorraine. :) He had a big old grin on his face the entire night. Eric would have really enjoyed this and been so proud since he loved helping Parker with his car every year. This year Uncle Brent helped Parker sand, paint and get his car ready to go.

Here they are in between races putting graphite on the wheels. (You know doing that in between every race is one of the keys to winning those races.)

Here are the winners of the night: Parker - 1st place, Conner - 2nd place & Little Conner - 3rd place.

These are some of Parker's best friends: Jens, Karter & Isaac

Each boy gets a certificate and for Parker's car it was named "most unique."
It was a fun night for everyone. Paxton can't wait until he turns 8 and can be a scout himself (as you can see by the looks of him in his own scout shirt.)

Madi's Cheer Competition in Cali

Back on March 24th I was able to go to California with Madi (as her chaperone) to her national cheerleading competition. We flew out on Friday and came back on Monday. It was a lot of fun to hang with her and their neighbors & good friends Deb & Shaye all weekend. We shared a hotel room at the Hilton & later the Marriott & had plenty of laughs (among other things...Madi & Shaye, you know what I'm talking about here.....) Deb & I enjoyed watching the girls perform, go FUSION!

Madi's advanced team ended up taking 6th place, way go to girls! We then spent our evenings playing at California Adventure and Disneyland. Thanks for inviting me along Madi, I had a blast (and thanks for funding it all Brian! :)
