Today was the first day back to school for Parker- yahoo! Parker is in Miss Holthaus' 4th grade class. A lot of his friends from last year and from the ward are in his class so I think it will be a fun year for him. He had to ride his ripstik to school this morning (sans the helmet & pads, the little turd. Actually I learned we left his helmet up in Kaysville.)

When Parker got home from school I had this cake waiting for him. I had done this for him once before (back when he started 1st grade) and he remembered that this morning and commented on how he liked getting that when he started 1st grade. So this afternoon (20 min before he was to get home from school) I went and picked up a cake for today and he was happy.

I asked him how his 1st day of school was, he said "good, I didn't get in trouble once." It made me laugh since it's the first day of school and all, I would hope he wouldn't have a "think time" this early in the game. (Can you tell this kid is used to having to report on his behavior to me each day? We've just had a few issues in the past to where I have to ask for updates. Little does he know I used to get "disruptive influence" comments on my report cards in middle and jr. high - like mother, like son? Man I'm embarrassed to remember how mouthy and terrible I was to some of my teachers. Susie - remember Mr. Kroes biology class? I remember getting caught cheating in there & he was basically chasing me around the room for my little cheat sheet while I proceeded to eat the "proof." That is so bad! I think I spent more time sitting on the floor in Mr. Cornaby's class as punishment, than I did learning about biology. I have so repented for these things!)
I can't believe Parker is going to be 10 this year and is in 4th grade already! Time flies by way too fast! Parker has enjoyed the summer & gotten off the hook in not having to read much so now it's back to nightly reading, homework & getting to bed before 10.

I won't even mention how you used to go up to Mr. Kroes' desk and pretend to ask a question and 'accidentally' step on his sandwich that was sitting under his desk...
Oh I got a good laugh reading that!! We were evil to our teachers.. what was wrong with us?? I also LOVE that Kris O leads a secret life as Kristine!!! I am ready for school to start around here..we have until after labor day!!
Rebecca, I am learning more about you all the time. I thought you were a perfect little angel. Anyway, I think Parker looked great for the 1st day of school and I'm sure he will be a perfect little angel....
Tears are running down my face...do you still remember the song you sang about Mr. Kroeser? I won't sing it now but it referred to some of his man parts...and do you remember when he fell into the sink...I could go on all day.
I cannot imagine you being "rebellious" at all! How funny. That's a really cool idea for buying him a cake on his first day of school.
I, too remember those days in Mr. Kroes' biology class. Who would think a teacher could be that dumb. The way that I remember the sandwich thing is that we all took turns asking him a question and stepping on his sandwich. I had forgotten about the letter from his wife. So funny. Do you remember how he would let us pass our checks on the board to each other? What a game that turned into. I never learned anything in biology, except how to get away with being a smartalic (sp?).
I love reading your blog. It is so fun to catch up with you. We really do need to try to get together sometime. Call me if you get a second.
You are too funny! Shawn and I really enjoyed the good laugh we both got from this post :) Let's hope that Parker is exactly the same as you were. I mean really despite it all you turned out great!
Susie - I do not remember that, did I really? I remember making fun of his wife leaving him a note that said "thanks for all you did" when she discovered she was pregnant, but I forgot the sandwich thing. Are you sure that wasn't you doing that too? :) I'm so glad to hear so many of the rest of you remember Mr. Kroes too! And yeah, Amy now that you mention it we did have a little "jingle" we sang about Mr. Kroes - did it have something to do with his pants and what was inside? You might have to privately email me the words so I can remember it all! :) Annalyse - that game with passing the check marks was a joke wasn't it? I love how we all remember what a goober the guy was. Susie -what was that bumper sticker his car had on the back of it? The good ole days! Hill - go up to Kris' work or home and no one knows who Kris is, it's "Kristine" - I'm like "who's Kristine?" :) I asked her what her family calls her and it's "Kris" still so that's good.
ok Becca,
So funny!
You need to put this on the H.S. blog.
Hey Rebecca I cant believe I found you on here. You look beautiful. The boys have grown up so much. They are so handsome. I miss you and your little family, Alot has changed in my life. I cant believe how happy I am, I never thought this would happen for me. You seem to be doing well. I would love to catch up with you. It still feels like your family. I miss the Brickson's so much. But this is how it is. Anyway, keep in touch.
