Baseball season is over - we really don't have the blues over that (although those ballpark burgers & fries will be missed,) but Parker was on the Blue Jays this year. This was his 1st year playing in the league where the kids were actually pitching (vs having a pitching machine.) He didn't seem to like that too much (I think he was worried about getting hit by the ball since some of these newbie pitchers were a bit wild with their throws.) Luckily he got walked several times since he hardly swung the bat to attempt to hit the ball. So needless to say Parker did not have a good batting season. We will have to hit the batting cages and practice up for next year. He preferred playing the field instead of batting.
They had him on 1st base or the outfield. Eric used to play 1st base when he was young so I like that Parker is following his dad's footsteps and getting to play 1st base too. The coach did let Parker pitch once because Parker says he wants to be a pitcher. He's a leftie and for not having any practice he did pretty good pitching a few innings, and struck 1 or 2 kids out. Poppy (my dad) got a pitching lesson set up for Parker with a pitcher from Utah State and might have him pursue that more next year when baseball season comes around again. I think the highlight of each game for Parker was the free sno cone each kid gets after the game. I swear Parker is the fastest runner at this point, as he's first in line after EVERY game. It drives me nuts that he lacks motivation & drive during the game though. :)
