I think I have been living in my own world for awhile and have just caught bits and pieces of people worrying about their food storage, the wheat shortage, etc. With the economy being in a recession it got me worrying so I got on the bandwagon and went and got some more food storage today. I always stock up during Macey's case lot on things like the soups, noodles, green beans, corn, spaghetti o's, mac & cheese, ketchup, etc but never got the "basic" staples. So today when Smith's started their case lot I got 40 lbs of sugar, 40 lbs of flour, water, some tuna fish, spaghetti sauce, and peanut butter. I've also been storing my own water as we finish off a Sunny Delight or apple juice and a couple of days ago got on the list to get some wheat (500 lbs to be exact is what I'm asking for - maybe they will have a limit and won't let me get ten 50 lb bags.) I hope during general conference they talk about being prepared and getting the food storage up so I can feel a little ahead of the game & say "yep, I'm working on it!" Now I have no idea how to make bread with all this wheat but I can read a recipe if it comes down to it (I do have an unused breadmaker that would probably come in handy as long as we have power.......) Anyone else out there worried or stocking up?

Thanks for the heads up, I went to Smiths and got myself some food storage, we now have enough peanut butter to feed a small army (AKA-Emily)

You know what is actually kind of fun? Working in the cannery in Lindon. You work for 2 hours and then you can buy a certain number of cases of whatever. I went with my neighbor friends a few months ago and we just chatted while we worked and then went out to eat, so it was a girls night out, sort of. My concern with the wheat is, am I gonna be able to grind it? Will I have electricity? So weird to think about.
I've never done the cannery thing but really should try it out sometime with some of my ward friends. As for the wheat my mom ordered a grinder - I think she has a hand grinder already (in case electricity is out) and is getting an electric one too. I don't like to think of these things but my mom keeps me on my toes with it all.
