Fieldtrip to the Grotto

Today Paxton's preschool class had their first fieldtrip of the year. It was to the grotto. The grotto is a waterfall up Payson canyon that you can hike to.
The teacher invited parents to come along and since I work from home and have that flexibility I signed up to go. (I worked full time when Parker was in preschool and never went on any of his fieldtrips so I want to do things right for Paxton now although he did tell me he wanted to go alone.... um, yeah I'm totally feeling the love right now from my baby..... :)
This week the letter the kids are learning about is L so they first listened to a story about the autumn leaves and then were each given a bag so they could collect their own leaves along our short hike.
To get to the grotto you cross a few small bridges & hike up the mountain a little ways, along a stream.
(There is a way to get to the top of the waterfall but it's harder & higher for little kids so staying on the bottom is the best & the kids enjoy being close to the water & in the cave like area.)

After we hiked there & back we went to the park for a picnic lunch. Paxton had a great time with all his little friends and I enjoyed tagging along. At least Gina (Michael's mom who is my gym spin partner & friend) was happy enough to have me around to visit with.

Rebecca,
You look so much like your mom! What a hot mama you are! I was noticing how nicely your eyebrows are shaped. Funny, huh? That's a big deal to me because I plucked almost all of mine out years ago, and they just won't grow back. You're such a cute, fun mom. You're always doing such fun things with your boys and just getting involved. You look happy.

I remember the grotto. I love that place. I remember hiking (well sliding) down to it instead of hiking up to it. Good times! That is awesome you took the kids there on a field trip. I'll bet they loved it.

I LOVE the Grotto! Just a couple weeks ago I decided to take all 3 of my kids up there. See here...that's my boy with the grin! It was so fun and they loved splashing around in the water. How cool that the school took a field trip there!
