On Saturday night we were invited to go to the State Fair with some good friends. Well we had never been before so we headed up & had a great time (like we always do) when we are with Brian, Morgan & Madi. I'll admit all the livestock you see can easily be found by going around the block & down the street from our house (since we live in farm county) but the kids still wanted to see (smell) the pigs, goats & cows. I think the funnest part was racing down the big yellow slide on gunny sacks. We had to do the slide twice - Madi won the 1st race & I totally took the 2nd race. (Unfortunately I have no pic of that since all 6 of us raced down at the same time.)
The boys had to stop and try out the dune buggy and 4 wheelers while Madi & Morgan liked the scooters.

Parker & Madi enjoyed these bungee jumping things & all of us had fun on the Ferris Wheel (hmm, it reminded me of riding the sky ride at Lagoon...... :)

There is a portion of the fair for kids where they can walk through a farm type area & learn about farm life. They put on an apron (Parker was NOT happy with that part as you can see,)
grab a basket & learn about feeding the animals, growing vegetables, milking the cow, shearing the sheep, and riding the tractors.
Look, we have a few FFA members (Future Farmers of America) on our hands.
At the end you are given "money" for your hard work & then you can go in the general store and buy something (at 8pm all that was left was Frosted Flakes cereal which the kids ate dry.)
It was getting to be late but we still had a few tickets to use so Paxton went on this ride.
We were standing there waiting to get on the ride & suddenly the line developed elsewhere & a bunch of kids appeared. I did not want to wait for them to go first so I noticed some kids going into the gate & quickly gave Paxton his tickets & shoved him right into their group saying "hurry, get up there with your new friends." And he totally did. He walked right on through & ahead of all the others. We were laughing our heads off at him. After the ride I asked him how he liked his new friends & he told us "they don't speak english." This picture illustrates how he felt about the whole thing. Personally I feel he had a good cultural experience at the State Fair plus we did not have to wait in line long. What a win-win situation for all of us. Fun times!
