Ward Rodeo and Harvest Moon Hurrah

On Saturday our ward had their annual ward rodeo down at the little Wahoo riding grounds. We invited Brian, Morgan, Madi & Shay (Madi's friend) to "head on down south" & join us for a boot kicking good time riding horses, eating dutch oven, throwing cow pies, etc. Believe it or not they agreed to come on down (I think the cow pie throwing totally lured them in) & everyone had a great time.

Here I am enjoying "country life"...I'm trying to pull off the cowgirl look but not sure I accomplish it in those designer jeans & silver ballerina flats. One of the older men in the ward even let me borrow his hat for the picture but it still wasn't convincing enough. Brian had the idea to get weeds to put in our mouths & kick back.

I could not keep a straight face or act natural in any of the pictures & kept laughing.........Brian is doing great at not trying to pose though. (He was bummed he had no pocketknife & stick so he could do some whittling. :)

Here are me and Morgan and one of the ward member's cute little daschaund (sp?) puppy.

The kids had a great time riding horses the entire evening. Madi made friends with Gus and rode around with her all night - they seemed to have a ball.

The ward members even convinced me to give it a try.

Here's proof on the city slicker Madi's shoe (she thought it was a city sucker :) that she isn't in the city anymore. :)

When Paxton wasn't riding a real horse he was "horsing" around on the stick horses with other little kids. (That first picture looks like he has a stick coming out of his butt!)

Then it was time for the annual cow pie throwing contest. Luckily I didn't have to throw one this year since I'm no longer in the YW presidency. (You might be a redneck if a member of your Bishopric announces over the pulpit during Sacrament meeting that Bro So & So is busy drying out cow pies for the upcoming cow pie throwing contest. And yes, that is exactly what a member of my Bishopric did the Sunday before the rodeo. I had to laugh!!) On the way to the rodeo Morgan & Madi saw Gus driving a tractor up the road to the rodeo grounds. They could not figure out what she was pulling until she got there & saw all the cow pies in the back of the tractor trailer. Good times huh?? :) Brian wondered why they don't make cow pie throwing an olympic event? (It appears you get more distance on these things if you throw them like a frisbee. One person was even turning around & around & released it like throwing a disc in the olympics.)

Uncle Brent and Bailee came towards the end of the night to ride horses for a bit. Here's Brent with Paxton.

After the rodeo we headed over to SF for the Harvest Moon Hurrah. We were late for a lot of the little kiddie activities but in time to listen to the music & dance. Morgan enjoyed the band since they had someone playing the bari sax (which she happens to play for her band.) There were scones, hot chocolate, popcorn, etc. The weather was perfect & everyone had fun dancing.

The kids then had time to clown around on the playground.

At the end of the night we took our picture in front of the cool green lights that were all over the park.

Hurrah!! Let's do it again next year everyone (although the 2 events most likely won't fall on the same night again!)

What a fun ward activity! I would totally go if our ward did something like that. We don't do too many fun activities. Most things are the same old same old sitting around. We don't usually go.
